Trust and Timing

Trust. Timing. God's perfect timing. Sometimes things don't happen in our timing. Sometimes our plans don't go like we thought they would. And in those times it can be hard to trust. However, time and time again, His timing is perfect. And while we wait we learn to trust.

But sometimes that waiting and trusting can be hard.

Last fall my husband suddenly lost his job of 22 years. It of course took us by surprise. It didn't take God by surprise. We figured after the holidays, he'd be able to find a job fairly quickly. But then a pandemic hit and hiring for many companies was put on hold. Our faith was stretched a bit. There were days it was a little discouraging and we (especially me) wondered what would happen if a job for him didn't come. We were fine financially thanks for the provision of a severance, my paychecks and a few unexpected helps along the way. But recently I was paying some bills and letting God know that my husband would need to get a new job soon. And in His perfect timing, a job came through!

A few months ago we were to go away for a few days to celebrate our anniversary. We were to go to one of our favorite places just a few hours away. But, a couple of days before we were to leave our reservations were cancelled. We were so disappointed. Mentally and spiritually we were so needing the break. A second place had to cancel on us as well. We had to go to a Plan C. That plan was fine, but just not the original plan. We were finally able to do our Plan A. It wasn't when we originally wanted to go. But at the time of making the reservation we weren't sure what was going to happen with my husband's job so wanted to go while we could. Turns out, for a few reasons, the timing of the official get away was perfect. And totally in His perfect timing.

We don't always know why stuff happens. We don't know why things don't go the way we planned or hoped. It's so much better when we trust Him. Better to trust Him and our own thoughts, etc. We need to, I need to, trust Him with our whole heart. He's got this. He knows. We don't need to know. We just need to trust. Trust Him. Trust His perfect timing.
